Networking Revisited

Many business pundits claim your network is your most important asset, and they well may be right

 
Who you know goes much further than what you know, since you can’t possibly know it all – but you can know someone who knows more in a certain area.
 
So when you are ready to look for that new starting place for yourself – a new position – immediately you tap into your network. And your first instinct may be to call up someone you know and tell them of your desire to begin anew at some position (with more prestige and pay, of course!)
 
But wait! Before you jump in to all that you need to launch yourself with their help, there is one very important question to ask yourself before you pick up that phone (or mouse): “How can I help this person?” That’s right.  How can YOU help THEM.

 

When you come from a place of giving first, service first, you cannot help but reap the other side of that equation – receiving

 
The Law of Gratitude states that the more you give, the more you will receive. The more you assist others, the more you will assist yourself.
 
But so many of us are programmed to talk about ourselves and what we need. We constantly look for how we can benefit in each encounter we have. And the OPPOSITE of that attitude is what really works. In each encounter look for how you can GIVE. This is the key to not only a quicker and easier landing into your new adventure, but to a happier life altogether.
 

People generally want to help those who help them

 
It’s part of our human condition that we feel better about people who help us and we, in turn, want to help them. When you approach your job search with this principle in mind – give first – you will be amazed at what transpires.
